Turn your site into a phone app
Your published site can also be an app your customers keep on their Android phones, with your logo as its icon and your name under it. It’s in Beta features on the dashboard, on the card Your app, and it’s free during the beta.
Make your site an app
Section titled “Make your site an app”- Publish your site first. Only published sites can become apps.
- On the dashboard, open Beta features, then press Make my site an app on the Your app card.
- Pick the site. You see its icon and the name it will have on the phone. You can change the Name on the phone and the Icon color.
- Press Turn on my app. It’s ready in about a minute.
No new address, no app store, nothing to fill in. Every time you publish, the app shows the new version too.
If your app needs a logo first
Section titled “If your app needs a logo first”The app’s icon is made from your site’s logo, the file public/logo.png (a square one works
best). If the sheet says your app needs a logo first, press Ask Anela to make my logo. It opens
your project with the request already in the chat box. Send it, publish again when Anela AI is
done, then open the sheet again.
If you change your logo later, press Update the icon from my logo. Customers who already installed the app keep the old icon; new installs get the new one.
Share it
Section titled “Share it”When your app is ready, the sheet gives you:
- The link to your app page, to copy.
- A QR code, for your counter, tables, window or flyers. Customers scan it with their phone’s camera.
- Send on WhatsApp, a message with the link.
- A line for your Instagram bio, to copy.
On an Android phone, your customer opens the link in Chrome and installs the app with two taps. If they open it inside Instagram, Facebook or another app, the page sends them to Chrome. They need no app store and no account. The sheet shows how many installed it, how many times they opened the app and how many visited your app page, for the last 30 days.
iPhone
Section titled “iPhone”On iPhone, customers see your site for now. The App Store app comes later in the beta.
Build a new app
Section titled “Build a new app”No site yet? Press Build a new app on the same card and say what your app should do, for example “my bakery’s menu, pick-up orders and this week’s specials”. Anela AI builds it for phones first. When it’s ready, publish it, then turn on its app with Make my site an app.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- If you change your site’s free address, customers who installed the app have to install it again from the new address. The publish sheet warns you before you change it.
- If you change the app’s name, customers who installed it are asked to accept the new name.
- Turn off my app, at the bottom of the sheet, turns it off.
