Send email from your site

Your site can send email: contact forms, receipts, a note when someone signs up. It sends through your own Resend account, so the mail is yours, the sending reputation is yours, and the plan is yours. Anela keeps a credential for your account so it can set the site up, and the key it puts in your site can only send. The one message Anela composes itself is the test message on this panel.

When your site needs email, Anela AI shows a card in the chat: press Connect, and Resend opens in a new tab. Sign up there (it is free) or log in, approve Anela, and Anela sets up the rest. If you come back before finishing, the card says Signed up? Press Connect once more to finish.

The same choice is in the project: press Files, go to the Integrations tab, and choose Resend.

  • Connect Resend is the short way, the same as the card’s Connect.
  • Use an API key is for people who would rather paste a key they made themselves at Resend.

On Resend’s approval page you pick a permission. Choose Full access, then slide to authorize. Sending access sounds safer but it does not let Anela create the sending address for your site, and the panel will tell you so and ask you to connect again.

How do I connect?, right under the two buttons, opens a step-by-step guide. It starts on Connect Resend: make your Resend account in the tab that opens (an email, a password of at least 12 characters, then the confirmation email) or log in, choose Full access and slide to authorize. Behind its link it also walks you through making an API key at Resend (API keys, + Create API key, a name, Full access, Add), copying the key Resend shows only once and pasting it in the guide. On the card in the chat, Help me connect opens the same guide.

A connected account is saved on your Anela account, not on one project. The next site you build offers it with a Use button instead of asking you to connect again. Each site uses one account, and the panel names the one it is using. You can keep several: a business account and a client account, for example, and point different sites at different ones.

With Full access, your site sends from its free address as soon as you connect, without a question. You can change it on the panel at any time. There are two kinds of address.

  • Your site’s free address is ready in a few minutes and costs nothing. It is an address on your site’s own name, such as info@my-shop.anela.site. Type the name you want or let Anela pick one. If the site is already online, its name is set and only the part before the @ changes. Anela adds the records and shows a checklist while Resend checks them.
  • Your own domain gives you an address like info@yourname.com. Buy one right there on a paid plan, and it becomes your site’s web address too. If you already own a domain, use it instead. For a domain bought through Anela the records are added for you. For one you keep somewhere else, the panel lists the records and you add them at your domain provider, then press Check again.

The free address stays with your site. When you rename your site’s web address, email moves to the new name by itself: Anela makes the new address and waits until Resend has checked it, and your site keeps sending from the old one in the meantime, so no email is lost. A domain bought for the site through Anela is followed the same way. No other site can use an address yours sends from, not even after yours is deleted, until its records are gone.

If your connection is a sending-only key, Anela cannot set up a domain for you, so the panel asks which address to send from. Use one you have already verified at Resend.

Send me a test email sends a message to the address you log in to Anela with. It checks the two things this panel set up: the connection works, and the sending address is accepted. Anela sends that message itself, so it does not exercise the contact form on your site. Once the site is published, fill in your own form too.

A domain Resend has not verified yet cannot send, whoever the message is addressed to. Resend’s own test domain is the exception: it delivers only to the address that owns the Resend account. If either refusal comes back, the panel repeats Resend’s words and names the address it will accept.

You do not need to publish again for email. Connecting email after your site is published, a new sending address and a rename all reach the published site by themselves. If that ever cannot finish, the Publish sheet says which address the live site still sends from, and publishing again sends the new one.

Change lets you switch to another saved account or edit the sending address. While a switch is unfinished, your site keeps sending with the account it has, and the panel names the one you are switching to.

Disconnect turns email off for that site. A key Anela created for it is deleted at Resend, and if the site sent from its free address, that address’s records and its domain at Resend are removed too. If any of that cannot finish, the panel says what is left and Retry finishes it. A key you pasted is left alone, because you may be using it elsewhere, and it is removed from the published site instead.
